BIPLAR DISORDER By: Andres Castanon

Bipolar Disorder Is a serious mental illness. People who have it go through unusual mood changes, they can go from being happy to suddenly feeling hopeless.

Causes & Prevalence The causes aren’t always clear. It runs in the family. If not treated, it can lead up to suicide.

Signs/Symptoms People with bipolar disorder go through what’s called “mood episodes”. Each mood episode represents a drastic change from a person’s usual mood and behavior.

Who’s at risk? Bipolar disorder often develops in a person's late teens or early adult years. At least half of all cases start before age 25.

Prevention/Treatment Bipolar disorder cannot be cured, but it can be treated… because it is a lifelong illness, long-term, continuous treatment is needed to control symptoms.
