About us Who we are:  The School for Professional Studies at Saint Louis University What we do: Since 1963, we have served adult students, and we have evolved from campus-based training, classes, and programs to fully online undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Our unit also provides workforce training and certifications for professionals through our Workforce Center Our students: 22 + working full-time

First Base “Pushing students to feeling uncomfortable runs contrary to customer service principles set forth at some universities and the helping-oriented impulses of advisors; however, to help students see and navigate the crossroads, the advisor must nudge the student into new territory by challenging extrinsic motivations and simplistic interpretations of situations. Done with appropriate support, this challenge can lead the student to develop higher levels of self-authored abilities, consistent with the learning outcomes of higher education” (Schulenberg, 2013, p. 126).

Second Base "Hearing" the student = Active Listening At Saint Louis University  School for Professional Studies we educate  the mind , body and spirit of each student by listening. "Hearing" the student = Active Listening  Goal of Active Listening: to become a “gifted” listener

Home Coaching Philosophy: As a School for Professional Studies student at Saint Louis University, you will work with an academic coach, who will form a partnership with you during your academic journey to provide you with the tools necessary for academic success such as: orientation, academic planning, course selection, University resources and goal setting.
