Scholarships #CROSS18 Hello Everyone! Today, we are going to talk a little about scholarships! I don’t know about you, but I do know that I need money to pay for my education! And, what better way than applying for scholarships!

Show Me the $$$$ Who? What? Why? When? How? Active Phi Theta Kappans Over $90 million When? Sept. 15th How? Ptk.org - Scholarships Why? Education and building Servant Leaders Show Me the $$$$ Who? Active Phi Theta Kappans (You) What? Money! Over $90 million worth of scholarships are available for active Phi Theta Kappans. When? September 15, 2018 is when the application on Ptk.org opens up for you all to apply. How? You simply login into ptk.org, up top select scholarships, then scroll down to select a degree, and start the application. Remember to save as you go so you can always stop and come back. Just remember to start early so you can get all the necessary items together and uploaded on time. Pay attention to the deadlines. It is good practice to set your deadline for the application a few days earlier than it is actually due. Why? Phi Theta Kappa believes in you! They choose to help recognize your leadership qualities and help you continue to grow into a servant leader. These scholarships are available to help financially assist those in their education.

All-USA Community College Academic Team 20 awards of $5000 International Opens September 15, 2018 All-USA Community College Academic Team 20 awards of $5000 Coca-Cola Community College Academic Team 150 awards of various amounts New Century Scholars 52 awards of $2000 Hites Transfer Scholarship Deadline is Nov. 15, 2018 Regional Mail to Pepe Zerda Papa John Scholarship Deadline: Sept. 12, 2018 Joan Keller Scholarship Deadline: Oct. 17, 2018. International: When you log into the application, you will notice that based on how you answer the first page, the site will show you what scholarships you qualify for. This is so you do not waste your time filling out scholarships that you will not get because you do not meet the qualifications for them. There are scholarships for Associate’s, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees. Also, there is more than $37 million available for transfers. Listed here are just a few of the scholarships offered. There are many more. And keep your eye out for the ones that open in the spring. Deadline for Fall Application is November 15th. Pay attention to other scholarship deadlines in early November. Regional: We have two scholarship opportunities at the Regional Level. Both scholarships have a purpose of helping provide financial resources to active Phi Theta Kappa members in order to help defray educational expenses for the Academic Year 2018-19 while enrolled at a two-year institution. The “Papa” John Sharpe Scholarship is geared more towards active Phi Theta Kappa members who have demonstrated scholarly fellowship on campus and/or in the community. The “Papa” John Sharpe Scholarship covers registration costs for regional events. Whereas the Joan Keller Scholarship is geared towards those who have demonstrated servant leadership on campus and/or in the community. And, the Joan Keller Scholarship is $500 cash handed to the receiptent. Who does not want money??? Apply for these scholarships! I finally did and received a 2018-19 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship of $1000. Every little bit helps.

Often you use your resume to help fill out the application. Well, this is exactly what you do for a scholarship resume. You should start creating it now and keep adding to it throughout your educational career. This is like a journal that you will use to help fill out scholarship applications. It’s nice to have when you are trying to recall dates or details of a project for the scholarship application or essay. Shown here are some tips to remember while creating your scholarship resume. These sites listed go more in depth. This is a great tool to use. Ms. Laurie from headquarters shared this with your Regional Team and we thought it was such a great tool. Thus, we are sharing it with you. Now that you have the tools to help complete scholarships, are you ready? I know I am better prepared now….
