BSSHS Enrollment 2019-20 Class of 2021

Requirements for Graduation 11 credits are required to be classified as a junior. List required classes on the course request planning form first. Specific courses not previously completed should be written on your course request planning form (ex: PE, FA, etc.). Summer school applications should be available in March for repeating failed courses or taking enrichment courses, such as Computer Applications or PE.

College Prep Requirements 4 Year Public Colleges 4 Year University Communication Arts 4 Credits Social Studies 3 Credits Math (Alg. 1 & Up) 4 Credits Science 3 Credits Foreign Language 2-3 Credits (Required) Fine Art 1 Credit Communication Arts 4 Credits Social Studies 3 Credits Math (Alg. I & Up) 3 Credits Science 3 Credits Foreign Language 2 Credits (Recommended) Fine Art 1 Credit

NCAA Division I & II or NAIA Student athletes need to establish eligibility for college athletics by meeting grade point and coursework requirements. You should register by your junior school year. Check with coaches or the Activities Office for additional information. 16 core classes—D1~2.3—D2~2.0

What Vocational Programs are Available for Juniors? CTC or Summit Technology Academy Offer several 2 yr. programs Classes are 3 hour blocks of time and earn 3.0 credit per year See your course description book for details Some college credit or articulated credit may be available Applications still available to those who are interested. Supervised Work Experience-Senior Level Advanced Marketing and Supervised Marketing or Business Principles and Supervised Business Experience Advanced Marketing students should take Fundamentals of Marketing as a junior. Other Options (Senior Year): Nail Technology, Aviation, Hospitality Mgt, Intro. To Teaching, Pharmacy Technician, and Community Health Worker.

Options for College Credit Dual Credit High School and College Credit Reduced Fee (Approximately $280 for UMKC/3 hrs & $150 for MCC/3 hrs. Others Listed in the Coursebook) Credit Earned w/ a C or Better in the Class Eligibility Requirements -Core Classes 3.0 or 21 ACT -Vocational Classes 2.5 AP Coursework Most Rigorous Coursework Pay Only for the AP Test Typically Credit is Earned for Scores of 3 or Higher Test Given @ End of the Year to Determine Credit Articulated Credit: Credit in escrow. Offered in some vocational classes. 80% or higher and 15 hrs. of completed college work will earn credit. *Students should check with the college/university they plan to attend to determine what college credit will be accepted. This will vary from school to school for both dual credit and AP coursework.

8th Semester Release All graduation requirements must be completed by the end of the first semester of the senior year. Apply in the fall of the senior year, applications are due Nov. 1. Work Release students are NOT eligible for this program. A required meeting between parent, student, principal, and counselor must occur prior to approval. The principal grants final approval in early December.

Completion of the Personal Plan of Study/EnroLl. Form FILL IN required courses first (refer to your completed worksheet) Make sure that you have 7 credits (7 yearlong classes or other classes to total 7 credits) unless you are taking AM CTC or Summit Technology or Work Release List both year long and semester alternates (CHANGES WILL NOT BE POSSIBLE LATER IN THE SPRING) Do not enroll in study halls or aides or Leadership class Parent signature is required Case Manager’s signature is required if you have one
