我的学习经验 My Ways of Learning 作者:蒲田聪美

Ways of Learning Everybody has different ways of learning. There should be nothing “correct” or “wrong” about ways of learning. Now I am going to tell you MY ways of learning. Some people may agree with me. Some people may already have used the same ways I use. Some people may disagree with my thoughts. Some people may not be able to use my ways of learning. No matter what I am going to say for the next couple of minutes, as long as you are listening carefully, CONGRATULATIONS FOR YOU!!! You have already learned the most important way of learning!

Math, Science, ICT Knowing which teacher is teaching you the subject may help you make your decisions of learning. For now, Mr. Elmhorst is teaching us these three subjects: Math, Science, and ICT. He is the main English teacher in our class. Have you noticed that Mr. Elmhorst usually writes bunches and bunches of words on the blackboard? Have you noticed that he often likes to read information from our books? If you answer “YES” to the two questions above, then you may already know the “best” way to learn these three subjects…

Take notes from the blackboard. Copy information from the books. If you didn’t get a chance to ask questions during classes, then ask him after classes. The distance from YOUR desk to HIS desk should not be THAT long compared to the other teachers.

Language Arts The most important and difficult part about this lesson is reading stories. How can you write better paragraphs/stories?

READING--- If you didn’t understand a story’s main idea, read it AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN. Little by little, you are gathering information as you read. This is really the BEST way of reading. Brainstorm--- When I say this word, I don’t always mean writing down key words or facts. This is also when we ORGANIZE all the information of the story that you will write. When you do this, you should be able to write your stories more smoothly and you should have more creative ideas for your stories.

Geography To be honest, I really don’t like Geography lessons very much. (Don’t ask me why.)So I have almost no idea what are the good ways of learning this subject, but I can still tell you how can you finish your work properly.

For your Geography homework---you can almost always find SAME/similar sentences on the worksheets from our books. Don’t always give up too quickly when you are doing your Geography homework. Now we even got the page numbers to find the answers. All you need to do is to find the key words from your books. Sometimes you may need to move the words around to make up a sentence that matches with the questions. Don’t say that you can’t do it, because I already told you to read AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN until you understand the sentence’s meaning.

Economics “KISS”---Keep It Sort & Simple How fast can you take notes? You’ve got to use your English skill---listening. E.g.? Ex? Examples?

Examples are more important than facts! Sometimes, Miss Stephanie will just say the facts and we write them down. So always turn on your “English ears”! It is important to take notes, but there are way too much words for you to copy in 40 minutes. So you will have to find ways to take these notes as fast as you can---(a) Take a piece of paper and don’t look at your paper while you are taking notes. After class, you can copy them nicely and neatly on to your notebook. (b) Just choose the key words and copy them down. (c) Just copy the last bit of a paragraph. Examples are more important than facts!

Everyone has different ways of learning things Everyone has different ways of learning things. Always “THINK” if you want to increase your grade. THINK about your problems. THINK about the ways to solve your problems. THINK about your ways to learn. THINK about better ways of learning if needed.
