THE BOOK OF REVELATION RANKO STEFANOVIC Ang Aklat ng Apocalipsis

The Book of Revelation The Good News From Patmos WE WILL FOCUS on the book’s major parts and themes in the following ways: 1. Noting language and images derived from the history of God’s people in the Old Testament, we will discover how John communicated those messages. 2. Make every effort to derive meaning from the text itself, rather than imposing a predetermined interpretation upon it.

3. Analysis will be based on the fourfold structure of the book: The Good News From Patmos Focusing on Major Themes 3. Analysis will be based on the fourfold structure of the book: a. Revelation 1:1–3:22 employs the situation of the churches of John’s day to prophetically address the situation of the church in different periods of history. b. Revelation 4:1–11:19 repeats and builds on this history of the church, 3.

using apocalyptic symbols that add progressively more detail. The Good News From Patmos Focusing on Major Themes using apocalyptic symbols that add progressively more detail. c. Revelation 12:1–14:20 is the thematic center of the book and spans the history of the great controversy from before the time of Jesus to the Second Advent. d. Revelation 15:1–22:21 focuses exclusively on the end time. gamit ang mga simbolong apokaliptiko na malaprogresibong nagdaragdag nang higit pang detalye. ¶ c.

The Good News From Patmos Focusing on Major Themes 4. A meaningful interpretation of Revelation’s prophecies must be Christ-centered. The entire book was written from the perspective of Christ. It is only through Christ that the symbols and images of Revelation receive their ultimate meaning and significance. 4.

The Gospel From Patmos The Book of Revelation Lesson 1, January 5 Ang Ebanghelyo Mula Patmos

The Gospel From Patmos Key Text Revelation 1:3, NKJV “Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.” Susing Talata.

THE PROPHECIES OF Revelation are The Gospel From Patmos Initial Words THE PROPHECIES OF Revelation are an expression of God’s care for His people. They point us to the shortness and fragility of this life, to salvation in Jesus and His work as our heavenly High Priest and King, and to our calling to spread the gospel. Panimulang Salita.

1. The Title of the Book (Revelation 1:1, 2) The Gospel From Patmos Quick Look 1. The Title of the Book (Revelation 1:1, 2) 2. The Purpose of the Book (Revelation 1:1) 3. The Keynote of the Book (Revelation 22:7, 12, 20) 1. Ang Pamagat ng Aklat (Apocalipsis 1;1, 2) 2. Ang Layunin ng Aklat (Apocalipsis 1;1) 3. Ang Tema ng Aklat (Apocalipsis 22:7, 12, 20)

it by His angel to His servant John, The Gospel From Patmos 1. The Title of the Book Revelation 1:1, 2 nkjv “THE REVELATION OF Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants—things which must shortly take place. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John, who bore witness to the word of God, and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, to all things that he saw. 1.

REVELATION 1:1 STATES the title of The Title of the Book Its Significance REVELATION 1:1 STATES the title of the book as “The Revelation of Jesus Christ.” The word “revelation” comes from the Greek word apokalupsis (apocalypse), which means “uncovering” or “unveiling.” The Apocalypse is an unveiling of Jesus Christ; it is both from Jesus and about Him.

The Title of the Book Its Significance Jesus is the central figure of Revelation. The book begins with Him (Rev. 1:5–8) and concludes with Him (Rev. 22:12–16). “Let...the Revelation speak, and tell what is truth. But whatever phase of the subject is presented, uplift Jesus as the center of all hope.”—Testimonies to Ministers and Gospel Workers 118.

The Title of the Book Its Significance The Jesus of the Apocalypse is the Jesus of the four Gospels. Revelation continues the description of Jesus and His work of salvation on behalf of His people as first depicted in the Gospels. Revelation focuses on different aspects of His existence and ministry. It begins where the Gospels end, with Jesus’ resurrection and ascension into heaven.

Together with the Epistle to the Hebrews, Revelation emphasizes The Title of the Book Its Significance Together with the Epistle to the Hebrews, Revelation emphasizes Jesus’ heavenly ministry. It shows that, after His ascension, Jesus was inaugurated into His royal and priestly ministry in the heavenly sanctuary.

he made it known by sending his angel to his servant John.” The Gospel From Patmos 2. The Purpose of the Book Revelation 1:1 nrsv “THE REVELATION OF Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place; he made it known by sending his angel to his servant John.” 2.

Revelation’s prophecies have two practical purposes: to teach us how 2. The Purpose of the Book Primary and Practical REVELATION 1:1 TELLS us that the purpose of the book is to show future events, starting from the time when the book itself was written. Revelation’s prophecies have two practical purposes: to teach us how to live today and to prepare us for the future. Pangunahin at Praktikal.

signified it by His angel 2. The Purpose of the Book Symbolic Language Revelation 1:1 further states: “And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John” (NKJV, emphasis added). Here we find a very important word in the book. The word “signified” is a translation of the Greek word semainō, meaning “to show by symbolic signs.” The scenes and events were shown to John in vision in symbolic presentations. signified it by His angel Simbolikong Lengguwahe.

2. The Purpose of the Book Symbolic Language Thus, for the most part, the language used to describe Revelation’s prophecies must not be interpreted literally unless the text points to a literal meaning—we need to interpret it symbolically. While the scenes and events predicted are real, they usually were expressed in symbolic language.

of those symbols in our culture. 2. The Purpose of the Book Symbolic Language In trying to determine the meaning of the symbols used in the book, we must be careful not to impose on the text a meaning that comes out of human imagination or the current meanings of those symbols in our culture. We must go to the symbols found in the Bible in order to understand the symbols in the book of Revelation.

‘Surely I am coming quickly.’ Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!” The Gospel From Patmos 3. The Keynote of the Book Revelation 22:7, 12, 20 nkjv “BEHOLD, I AM coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book. And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. He who testifies to these things says, ‘Surely I am coming quickly.’ Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!” 3. Amen. Pumarito ka Panginoong Jesus!” (Apocalipsis 22:7, 12, 20).

3. The Keynote of the Book The Godhead REVELATION 1:4, 5 OFFER an epistolary greeting: “Grace and peace to you.” This phrase consists of the Greek greeting charis (“grace”) and the Hebrew greeting shalom (“peace,” “well-being”). As we can see from these texts, the Givers of grace and peace are the three Persons of the Godhead.

This designation refers to the divine name Yahweh, “I AM WHO I AM” 3. The Keynote of the Book The Godhead God the Father is identified as the One “who is and who was and who is to come” (see Rev. 1:8, Rev. 4:8, NKJV). This designation refers to the divine name Yahweh, “I AM WHO I AM” (Exod. 3:14, NKJV), referring to God’s eternal existence.

3. The Keynote of the Book The Godhead The Holy Spirit is referred to as “the seven Spirits” (compare with Rev. 4:5 and Rev. 5:6). Jesus Christ is identified by three titles: “the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth” (Rev. 1:5, NKJV). They refer to His death on the cross, His resurrection, and His reign in heaven.

3. The Keynote of the Book The Second Coming In Revelation, the second coming of Christ is the end point toward which history moves. The Second Coming will mark the conclusion of this world’s history and the beginning of God’s eternal kingdom, as well as freedom from all evil, anguish, pain, and death.

3. The Keynote of the Book The Second Coming Revelation 1:7 points to the literal, visible, and personal coming of Christ in majesty and glory. Every human being alive, as well as “those who pierced Him” (NASB), will witness His coming. While Jesus will bring deliverance to those waiting for Him, He will bring judgment to those who have spurned His mercy and love.

Together, these two words express certainty. They also conclude the 3. The Keynote of the Book The Second Coming The certainty of Christ’s coming is affirmed with the words “Even so, Amen” (Rev. 1:7). The words “even so” are a translation of the Greek word nai; and amen is a Hebrew affirmative. Together, these two words express certainty. They also conclude the book in two similar affirmations (see Rev. 22:20).

guidance for our life today and hope for our future. The Gospel From Patmos Final Words BIBLICAL PROPHECIES ARE like a lamp shining in a dark place (2 Pet. 1:19). They are intended to provide guidance for our life today and hope for our future. We will need this prophetic guide until the coming of Christ and the establishment of God’s everlasting kingdom. Huling Pananalita.
