Presentation transcript:

Monday, 1/7/19 Agenda Warm Up pg. 74 Warm-Up Introduction to Engineering Design Process (EDP) Tallest Spaghetti Tower Challenge List and give a brief description of the Steps to the Scientific Method.

On pg 74 State the problem in the form of a question, based on an observation Will TFP make Roses “bud” faster? Research the problem What is actually in TFP? What do plants need to grow? Form a hypothesis Tropical Fruit Punch makes Roses “bud” fast.

Experiment Test my hypothesis

Collect and organize data Use data tables Write notes for each day Write ONLY OBSERVATIONS Analyze the data Put the data in Graphic form (use graphs) Analyze trends Form an conclusion and make recommendations Was the hypothesis correct? What’s next?

Monday, 1/7/19Tower Challenge pg 75 Goal: Make the tallest structure possible Criteria: Free standing structure Constraints: Use the Big marshmallow, as a whole Materials are limited to: 1 piece of masking tape (about 6 inches) 20 pieces of spaghetti 4 little marshmallows 1 big marshmallow Write a paragraph: What worked, what didn’t, how can you make it better, etc.

Debrief Engineering Design Process (EDP) Tuesday, 1/8/19 Agenda Warm-Up Debrief Engineering Design Process (EDP) Notes provided, pg 76 Tallest Spaghetti Tower Challenge written paragraph

Dog in a Well

Page 82 The Need: Rescue the dog from the well Background Information: You have to put information here that is important to you. Constraints: the dog is blind in 1 eye and has a broken leg. You can only use the materials provided, you only have a short amount of time to save the dog (the end of class) Materials: - 1 Meter stick - 2 meters of string - ½ meter of masking tape - 4 paper clips - 2 popsicle sticks
