Where are we now Different pathways for children and young people with ADHD and Autism. Long waiting times from referral to diagnosis. Limited support before and after diagnosis.

Present Autism Pathway Panels Training - parents & professionals Conferences Autism Friends in schools Panels – 2 multi agency panels per month, consisting of a range of professionals, paediatricians, education, specialist SaL therapists etc. Looking at around 34 cases per month. Training – The Pathway at present offers a wide range of pre & post diagnosis training and support for parents. We offer EB, Ebplus, 5 session Wigan autism programme, stay and play sessions, one day autism awareness training and specialist NAS workshops. We also offer autism training to a range of professionals including foster carers. Conferences - We run yearly autism conferences for parents and professionals – our recent parents conference was attended by over 150 parents in the borough, with motivating speakers such as Dean Beadle sharing the positives of his autism diagnosis. Autism friends - We are currently in the planning stages to roll out the autism friends in schools programme, following on from the hugely successful Autism friends programme running in Wigan at present.

Present Autism Pathway Web site Parent feedback Local offer Website - Our website is an area where parents can read and download information on autism as well as finding out about any upcoming training Parent feedback -The website is also where parents can leave us feedback/ask questions which are emailed directly to our team for us to answer any queries or questions you may have. Local offer - The local offer is on the Wigan council website pages & is a source of information for all parents of children with SEND in the Wigan borough. At present the local offer is under going a huge redesign to make it much more user friendly, using the feedback of parents as to what information you would like to access.

Present Autism Pathway Partnership with the adult steering group Child development clinics Parent contact & support Social care resource panels Adult steering group – As part of the transition from children services to adults we attend the adult autism steering group to share the work that is going ton in children's services with the adult service. CDC- Autism pathway manage attends child development clinincs to offer support, advice and training to parents of EY children receiving a diagnosis of autism, therefore bridging the gap between EY and school age pathways, ensuring these children are known to us. Parent contact & support – always being on hand to answer concerns, worries, questions that you may have either pre or post diagnosis Social care resource panels – We are part of the process as a representative to attend the social care allocation of resources.

What have we done? Cleared the waiting list of 200 children and young people waiting for an assessment and potential diagnosis of autism; Extra panels to keep waiting times shorter; Set up a multi- agency project board to implement a new pathway.
