Layers of the Visual Layer Tool IN EC need to adhere to bah blah blah.... very brief perhaps simply that it meets the standard on the next slide... Copyright        Karen M Barnes 2018

The Visual Layer Tool When the core, rings and triangles are overlayered, we can use each created segment as a visual prompt to: Design or redesign our curriculum Assess our curriculum at a quick glance as a reminder tool Audit our previous curriculum to see how we can improve it. Observe-example not exhaustive list just a sample Child focused – are my observations child focused do they think about the culture, interests, current knowledge, strengths, ideas and abilities of the child? Relationships – when observing do I collect information from families through observing their practices? Mandates – do I consider information from current mandates on how to observe based on current research and the law requirements? Environment – do I consider that when observing the child they may have behaved differently due to the environment affecting their behaviour and do I need to consider this further when planning? Documenting – Should this information be recorded? What format should this information be recorded in. Is what I have recorded purposeful? Copyright      Karen M Barnes 2018
