KEY THOUGHT Relationships are like cords KEY THOUGHT Relationships are like cords. When stretched beyond limit, they can be broken. When family relationships are broken, the results can be terrible. No matter how battered your relationship may be, God is able to transform things if you are willing to cooperate with Him. A fresh start is possible. Only believe!

ROOTS OF BROKEN RELATIONSHIPS – II Kings 2:19-21 What are the causes of broken relationships? Primary roots: Sin - Rom 1:28 Satan - John 10:10 Self - Rom 15:3 Secondary roots: Suspicion and false accusation - Gen 39:17 Selfishness – Phil 2:3 Unforgiving spirit and anger - Mark 11:25-26 Insincerity and deceit - Gen 27:35 Unfaithfulness - Mal 2:4 “And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the Lord, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.” - II Kings 2:21

REMEDIES FOR BESETTING RIFTS Practical ways to restore broken relationships: Work on yourself: Luke 15:17; Gen 32:24 Honest self examination, reflection. Win the other party over: Gen 33:3-4 Reach out, apologize, persevere, be sincere. Weigh your word and actions: Gen 33:8 Character, courtesy, respect. Withdraw all threats: Gen 32:16-20 Reset the relationship. Wrestle/win through prayer: Gen 32:24-21 “I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee” - Luke 15:18
