Observing The Sun By: Alannah and Taylor!

The sun The Sun is the closest star to Earth and is the centre of our solar system. It is a giant, spinning ball of very hot gas. The light from the sun shines down to us on earth for us to have light and heat.

What's inside the sun? As you can see, the inner core is in the centre of the sun. The Radiation zone is directly on top of the inner core. The convention zone is directly on top of the Radiation zone. The chromosphere is all around the sun (the outside).

Yohkoh The Yohkoh Observatory was launched on August 3st,1991, from Japan. It takes pictures of the sun and sends them to our internet. The main goal to invent this project was to increase our understanding of solar flares.

SOHO SOHO has 12 very important instruments. They each have a purpose, and together they let scientists study the internal area of the Sun, its outer atmosphere and the origin of the solar wind.

Facts The sun is 93 million miles away from earth The surface degree is 10,000 degrees (F). Core Temperature: 22 million degrees Radius: 695,800 km
