Roosevelt’s First 100 Days First Hundred Days: FDR pushed tons of legislation through the Democratic-held Congress, kick-starting America’s road to recovery. Bank Holiday: FDR closed banks on his first day until they were financially stable enough to open. Emergency Banking Relief Act: Took the country off the gold standard; allowed FDR to regulate the banks
