Third Grade Newsletter GIFTED GAZETTE 4.8 May 14th – May 18th What we’re learning this week… Test & Graded Assignments Schedule Reading: This week we will… Share School Story Response Log Share advice to future 3rd graders in brochure form and letter form. Language/Writing/Vocabulary: This week we will… Mentor Sentence skill: Quotation Marks Write an original short story containing plot, characters, climax, and resolution (see rubric) Spelling: utilize dictionary/thesaurus/dictionary.com references and refer to list of “non-negotiable” words in writing portfolio Math: This week we will… Summertime color topics: using protractors, mixed number addition/subtractions, area/perimeter, measurement, etc. Math Superstars enrichment Project of the Week (P.O.W.): Water Park Design – Language grade for creativity, collaboration, and completion due FRIDAY 5/18! Reading: Response log due 5/18 Language: Mentor Sentence editing test on THURSDAY 5/17 Response LOG due by Friday 5/18 Math: None DATES: May 14~ Junior Achievement Day (3rd grade) May 15~ Family Dine Out May 16~ Kinder Bell Program 9:30am May 17~ Bingo Night A note from the teachers Let’s FINISH STRONG as we wrap up this school year. May is a very busy month…please keep track of the school events and assignment due dates. We have some fun, engaging projects planned and we will continue recording grades through this week. THANK YOU so very much for all of the sweets, supplies, cards, flowers, and special gifts we received for Teacher Appreciation Week! Your love and appreciation was humbling. We appreciate you sharing your children with us! Passage Day was a great success! Thank you for helping to create great memories for your children here at PES!
