Do Now: Please write your homework down! HW: achieve3000.com assignment (Expository Review “Starting a New Job”) due 7:30am the day it’s due When you are done writing down your homework, please go pick up your journal from the back if you turned it in. Because of crazy snow days, the grades notebook check will happen after the EOC.

Updates! Falcon Hall today after school is the LAST CHANCE to make up any missing assignments for break (aka bring up your grades!) The spring break online homework will count for a semester 4 grade. B-Day you have until Wednesday to finish the spring break homework online. There are extra instructions by the door. A-Day you have until Sunday at midnight to finish the spring break homework. 5A, you also have to complete the levelset test for achieve 3000. Instructions and passwords are coming around. The EOC is in 2 weeks and we are going to study non-stop until then.

Testing Strategies Read question first 2 above, 2 below Some questions you don’t even need to read the passage (specifically the writing questions) so read them first to know what to look for and where 2 above, 2 below If a question asks about a specific line from the passage, you ALWAYS need to read the 2 line above it and the 2 lines after it to get the gist of the line

Sentence Types!!! Independent clause= subject (who/what sentence is about) + verb (action) + complete thought Miss Camacho is from California. Dependent clause= subject (who/what sentence is about) + verb (action) + NO complete thought Because Miss Camacho is from California If you could put (…) at the end of the clause, it is dependent

Simple 1 independent clause Miss Camacho likes mac-n-cheese

Compound 1 independent clause + comma+ conjunction (for and nor but or yet so) + 1 independent clause California has beautiful sunsets, so Miss Camacho like to take pictures.

Complex 1 independent clause + 1 dependent clause Although Miss Camacho did not go to Disneyland over break, she flew on a plane.

Compound-Complex 2 independent clauses + 1 dependent clauses Miss Camacho got home late, although she was very tired, she stayed up late to plan for her wonderful students.

Stations You will have 2 stations today. One is correcting your multiple choice section and one will involve answering a SAR questions using APES. For the first 3 min of each station, I will not answer any questions, so READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! You will have 15 min at each station.
