Alternative Methods of Applying Transparent Film The following methods prevent the drain tubing from coming into contact with the patient’s skin.

Fenestrated Dressing Technique Place transparent film on either side of wound Cut 2nd piece of transparent film to center

Fenestrated Method Continued Slide cut transparent film around tubing overlapping the first piece of transparent film Secure the cut portion of the transparent film with pink waterproof tape

Johnson Sandwich Method Using a sheet of transparent film, secure ½ to periwound and the other ½ to side of drain tube Perform the same procedure to the opposite side of the wound securing the tube between the two sheets of transparent film
