MEMOIR CHARACTERISTICS Personal narration - the writer writes about himself. The writer writes about his relationships with others and places that had an impact on him. It focuses on a brief period of time in the writer’s life that he wishes to write about. The plot of the memoir is about the pain and happiness the writer has been through and how he made the best of it or how he got through it. The writer discusses his feelings, thoughts, and emotions about the events in focus

Memoir characteristics continued… The memoir engages the reader in a conversational way. So the readers feels like the writer is speaking to them. Memoirs are written in such a way that the reader can learn something from it—we call this life lesson a theme. The writer uses descriptive language to appeal to the readers senses: Smell, touch, hear, see, taste. This is called imagery
