Novel Project An Awesome Alternative to the dreaded Book Report… THIS PROJECT IS DUE AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS ON Wednesday, 19th.

To demonstrate your understanding of your novel, you will be creating a board game to represent the story in your novel.

Board Game Requirements: Your game must… Reflect the main characters in your story. Show important settings in the story. Depict the major conflicts throughout the novel. Take the player through the major events in the plot.

You will need to create a direction sheet for your game. Game Directions You will need to create a direction sheet for your game. The directions need to: Give the name of the game (and the book it references). State the ultimate goal of the game and tell how a player wins. Give specific, clear, step-by-step instructions for playing. Tell how the pieces of the game are to be used.

Novel Game Grading Rubric The Game Board: Possible Pts. Decoration 10 _____ Evidence of Setting 5 _____ Evidence of Plot 5 _____ Evidence of Characters 5 _____ Events From Beginning, Middle, and End 5 _____ The Directions: Name 3 _____ Goal 5 _____ Information About Pieces 2 _____ Clear, Step-by-step Directions 10 _____ Total Pts. Earned _____ Letter Grade ____ THIS PROJECT IS DUE AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS ON Wednesday, December 19TH.

What else should you know? Spend a lot of time planning and designing the game itself. You must provide excellent directions!!! Be creative and have fun with this project. Use old board games and pieces if you have them available. Make sure to use cardboard, foam board, or some other sturdy material, not just poster paper. Be sure to use the game to tell the story in chronological order. This allows the player to “travel” through the book. Practice playing the game before turning in your final product to fix any mistakes there might be. YOUR BOARD MAY NOT BE BIGGER THAN YOUR DESKTOP (18X24).
