1600’s British East India Trading Company began to establish trading posts in major Indian cities power grew and overtime the company began to govern most of southern India until the early 19th century they ruled without much interference from the British government, even having its own army.
British Colonialism in India The British made laws that favored themselves and segregate Indians Economy can’t run on its own. India must produce raw materials and buy British goods. Competition prohibited. Increased racists attitudes English and Christianity promoted.
Indians Rebel 1857 Sepoy Mutiny = Sepoy soldiers, Hindu/Muslim soldiers, were hired by British Fighting lasted for one year resulting in increased English racist attitudes and control, segregation, new laws, and eventually an Indian nationalist movement.
