conervation of forests and wildlife

CONSERVATION OF FORESTS WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY CONSERVATION OF FORESTS CONSERVATION in short means protecting our future and preserving our past. CONSERVATION of FORESTS AND WILDLIFE in general means preventing deforestation and protecting the different species of flora and fauna from getting extinct.

WHY DO WE NEED CONSERVATION OF FORESTS

CONSERVATION preserves the ecological diversity and our life support systems – water, air, soil It also preserves the genetic diversity of plants and animals for better growth of species and breeding. e.g.. In agriculture, we are dependent on the different crop varieties. The fisherman also depend on maintenance of aquatic biodiversity for getting good fish varieties.

SOME OF THE ACTS DONE TO CONSERVE THE FORESTS IN THE 1960S AND THE 1970S A NATIONAL WILDLIFE PROTECTION PROGRAMME WAS ESTABLISHED. IN 1972 THE INDIAN WILDLIFE ACT WAS IMPLEMENTED WITH VARIOUS PROVISIONS FOR PROTECTING HABITATS. THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCED SEVERAL PROJECTS FOR PROTECTING SPECIFIC ANIMALS. AN ALL INDIA ACT OF PROTECTED SPECIES WAS PLUBLISHED.
