KS2 Residential CMC Adventure Centre – Pensarn Harbour (Wales) Near Harlech Castle (Wed 27th– Fri 29th March 2019)

KS2 Residential Year 3-6 mixed at St. Oswald’s (Y3/4 separate activities to Y5/6) Very excited to be going back to CMC Helped to keep costs down with whole of KS2 together. Overall Team Leader = Mr Goodwin Staff: Miss Ramage, Miss Holdsworth, Miss Dutton We have the exclusive use of the site as well as the cottage at a neighbouring site.

Aims: What experiences we hope the children gain from the residential: To have lots of fun without parents! Team building and self awareness Confidence to try something new – controlled risk taking, bravery, character building Inter-dependence and independence Experience outdoor adventurous activities Love of outdoor learning and education Outdoor bush craft and the environment outdoors Character building and relationships

What and where is it? Purpose built outdoor activity centre owned by CMC in Llanbedr (Christian run activity centre) Set in gorgeous coastline of mid Wales near Llanbedr and just passed Harlech Castle. Accomodation and centre overlooking Pensarn Harbour and the coast. Full secured site with exclusive use and lockable accommodation for night time. 3 hour drive by bus – we will be taking a staff car for emergancies.

Facilities : Various sized dormitories Teacher rooms either side All in the same building Secure perimeter fence and locked gate and accommodation block locked at night Single sex dorms of various sizes (bunk and single beds) Tuck shop (£5 maximum spending money please an no more) Wash rooms

Year 3/4 Timetable: 9:05am – depart school 12:30pm – arrive at CMC Wed afternoon – Acivity 1 Wed evening – meal and evening activity Thu Morning – breakfast and activity 2 Lunch Thu afternoon – activity 3 Thu evening – meal and evening activity Fri morning – breakfast and Activity 5 Fri lunch and head back to school Fri 2:30pm arrive back at school Activities: Kayaking, Open Canoeing, Rock Climbing, Initiative challenges, Harlech Castle Tour last day)

Kit list: Go through list together on sheet of paper Kit list: Go through list together on sheet of paper. If you write down the number of items packed we’ll endeavor to get the children to check off their list at the end. Please put the packing list inside the suitcase / rucksack they take with them. No electrical items please (games, hair straighteners etc.) Definitely no phones – if there is a problem – we will ring home. No sweets hidden in bags please (doesn’t help sleep) Money and Tuck Shop £5 maximum spending money for tuck shop in total Tuck shop open each night(maximum of one food and one drink each night)

Medical: Cheshire East Medical form C and CMC centre medical form completed and handed ASAP (before departure) Any inhalers / medicine to be handed to Mr Goodwin / Miss Ramage in a clearly marked bag with child’s name on it prior to departure. Any routine medicines needed to be administered by staff during the residential –permission form needs to be filled out at the office and handed to Mr Goodwin / Miss Ramage prior to departure with clear instructions. Any potential night problems needs to be discretely mentioned to Mr Goodwin / Miss Ramage prior to departure (no an issue at CMC as they are set up for schools !)

Emergency procedure Qualified emergency first aid staff always on site + Mr Goodwin Nearest A&E is Bangor (helicopter ride is emergency) Contact school during school hours and they will phone the Centre Contact Mr Goodwin out of hours on: 07887 350324 Miss Ramage will be driving and car will remain at the centre throughout if any children need to be brought home due to illness / compassionate etc. Centre contact details: CMC Pensarn Harbour, Llandedr, Gwynedd, LL45 2HP, 01341 241646
