The marker is a brass disk, about 3.5 inches in diameter. The triangle indicates that this is a station mark (a regional reference point), and the small dot at its center indicates the precise location of the station. The disk has been recessed into a depression chiseled into a rock ledge. The station marker could be used as a datum for an archaeological site. © 2012 Elsevier, Inc. All rights reserved.
