Delivering a world class Heartland Highways England update Ian Parsons Wednesday 12 September 2018 Silverstone

RIS1 Delivery We are over half way through delivering RIS1 and the £12 billion worth of road investment capital set out by the government. So far we have delivered: £4 billion value of road improvements delivered to date in RIS1 £169 mill. efficiency saving in first two years of Road Period 1 – 21% ahead of target 19 new road schemes already completed 15 projects currently under construction 61 cycle paths and footways built or improved since 2015 1,150 parts of the network where we have started to reduce the impact of noise 100 number of biodiversity improvement schemes complete, underway or planned 40,000 number of new homes supported by our growth and housing fund 73 number of innovation projects in areas such as traffic management

Highlights in EEH area £1.5bn A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon improvement scheme. Expected to open to traffic by the end of 2020. A428 Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet: Due to start 2021/22. Cost TBC Smart Motorway A1(M) J6 to J8: Due to start 2019/20 >£110m Oxford to Cambridge expressway: Ambition to open by 2030 . Successful Growth & Housing Designated Fund projects Northamptonshire – Daventry Development Link (£3m); Swindon – M4 J15 Commonhead (£5m), Buckinghamshire – A404 Westthorpe (£1.8m), approved subject to contract, (detailed design ongoing) Other schemes in the pipeline being considered which we hope to announce shortly. In all the GHF has helped the delivery some 1500 jobs and nearly 5,000 homes. (nationally 45,000 jobs and 40,000 homes)
