Figure 1 Some of the possible links in the positive feedback loop by which oxidative stress and carbonyl stress promote AGE formation during ovarian follicle aging. Decreased antioxidant and antiglycation defenses along with mitochondrial dysfunctions might be the driving force for the progressive metabolic impairment during aging. Altered glucose metabolism can be an additional factor promoting AGE accumulation.
