Invasive Species vs. Non-native Species As per Executive Order 13112 an "invasive species" is defined as a species that is: 1) non-native (or alien) to the ecosystem under consideration and. 2) whose introduction causes or is likely to cause economic or environmental harm or harm to human health. Non-native species do not cause environmental or economic harm. An important, not-to-be-missed distinction between non-native species and invasive species is that non-native species do not disrupt the natural functions and processes of our native ecosystems.

Plants We May See Outside Autumn Olive Honey Suckle (multiple species) Multiflora Rose Dead nettle Callery Pear Possibly Many More!!!

Expectations for Campus Exploration The campus is an extension of our classroom. This means that the same rules still apply! Be respectful of our guest, your teachers, your peers, and yourself. Do not run or yell or scream. Leaves of three, let them be! Do not touch plants unless you are instructed to. We are going OUTSIDE. This means that there will be pollen, insects, dirt, and other things related to the outdoors. You will be OK. Check yourself for ticks before coming inside.

Conservation and Treatment Department of Forestry (DOF) Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) Local Soil & Water Conservation Districts (SWCD’s) Treatment is specific & timing is important!!!!
