On March 20th we’re celebrating SBDC Day. SBDC Day is a national proclamation of America's Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs), and their impact on the success of our nation's dreamers, innovators and doers -- America's small businesses." And we’re inviting you to join the celebration.

Small businesses create 2 out of every 3 net new private- sector jobs in our country. [Source: SBA Office of Advocacy -- see https://www.sba.gov/sites/default/files/Job_Creation_fact _sheet_FINAL_0.pdf] America’s SBDCs play a critical role in the health of small businesses: helping access capital needed for growth, providing advice on regulations, preparing for changes in economy and technology, and responding when disaster strikes. ½ of SBDC clients start a business in their first year.

Small businesses are job creators and innovators Small businesses are job creators and innovators. America’s SBDCs are the nation’s proven, cost- effective, and accredited infrastructure focused on small businesses. From 2002-2013 SBDCs have helped create 750,000 jobs, $67.5 billion in sales, and returned over $5.4 billion in federal and state revenues. Last year alone, America’s SBDCs helped nearly one million aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners find new customers, get financing, increase sales and create new jobs.

We’re inviting you to join us on SBDC Day, March 20th to celebrate America’s SBDCs and their contribution to the success of American small business. How has the SBDC helped you make your dream a reality? How has the SBDC made a difference in your life or in your community? We encourage you to share your SBDC story by using the hashtag #SBDCDay on social media.

Business has changed dramatically since the creation of America’s SBDCs, from the introduction of new technologies to the expansion of global trade. And America’s SBDCs have been there throughout — helping small businesses succeed, and helping aspiring entrepreneurs achieve the American dream of owning their own business.
