South East LEP & Social Enterprise Adam Bryan Managing Director 19th May 2017 A Bridge to Social Investment event

History SELEP has recognised the role of Social Enterprise and needs to build on that solid start Vital to adapt to changing economic reality; changing politics, changing everything. Even more important to hear the local viewpoint ‘Jobs and Innovation’ and the ambition to make the South East the capital of social enterprise

Why social enterprise? - According to a 2015 Government survey, the Social Enterprise Sector: Includes around 70,000 enterprises Contributes £24 billion to the economy Employs nearly 1m people From the SEUK 2015 report the South East is one of the fastest growing areas with 36% of social enterprises in the area less than 3 years old.  Opportunity. Economic inclusion and place-based delivery more importantly than ever. Clear role.

Next steps A need for real dialogue and urgent further engagement Social Enterprise Working Group sanctioned by SELEP board Social Enterprise champion role on SELEP Strategic Board Current opportunities through ERDF to support social enterprise Talk to us!
