Spring Writing Contest Do you enjoy writing short stories? Are you a poet at heart? Do you secretly love writing essays? (and you know who you are)

Oh boy, I sure do!

Spring Writing Contest If you answered, YES, to any of those questions, then you need to enter the College-Ready

Contest Details The contest is open to ALL students in 6 th, 7 th, and 8 th graders. All entries are due no later than April 30, 2012, by 3:45 PM. Students may choose a topic and submit any of the following: – 1 short story (between 2 to 5 pages only) – 1 to 3 poems (free verse or rhyming) – 1 essay (Persuasive or Expository, 5 paragraphs)

Contest Details Students may not use any characters, settings, or plot details from cartoons, movies, other books, TV shows or any known form of media. In other words, PLEASE BE ORIGINAL! – No Latin Batman – No My copy of an Eminem rap… – No bootleg Sponge-Bob knock-off like Towel-Timmy Circle-Shorts (Wait,…what?)

Prizes and Awards GRAND PRIZE: a. Certificate of participation b. $50 gift card c. Gold pen (well, it will look like gold) d. 4 parent volunteer hours

Parent Volunteer hours are provided by the administration of College-Ready Middle School #4. All entries must be ERROR FREE for consideration Please give all entries to your advisory teacher – Do not give them to the principal, office staff, or Mr. Harry (unless he is your advisory teacher). This contest is optional so dont hate, just participate!
