Digital Citizenship Lesson Digital Footprint Digital Citizenship Lesson

What is a digital footprint? A digital footprint is all of the information online about a person either posted by that person or others, intentionally or unintentionally. What do you do online? Look at the web in your folder. List the sites or platforms that you visit or have visited.

What is a digital footprint? View video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4P_gj3oRn8s Discussion Questions: What image of yourself are you creating online? Is there anything online that you would be embarrassed to have your parents or grandparents see? Is there anything that you would not want a future employer to see?

The Trillion Dollar Footprint Imagine: You are the producer of a hit TV show that travels the country looking for teens to compete in a talent show. Your job is to hire a host for the show. You have two candidates for the job, Linda and Jason. It’s important that the person you hire works well with others and is honest.

The Trillion Dollar Footprint In groups, you will be looking at the profiles of both candidates and evaluating who is the better person for the job. Each group will need to fill out one copy of the feedback form. The profiles can be found on Canvas under assignments: Trillion Dollar Footprint. You may begin.

The Trillion Dollar Footprint Who did your group decide to hire and why? Do you think the candidate will be honest? Do you think the candidate will work well with others?

Linda’s profile – a closer look What did you think about the comment under Linda’s Instapic? Did it change your opinion of her?

Jason’s profile – a closer look What was your impression of Jason when you found out that he lied about singing in a band, his relationship status, and where he was born?

The Trillion Dollar Footprint So who got the job? Neither of them as the executive producer had too many concerns about their honesty and their ability to work well together. The producers decided to keep looking for their ideal host.

So, what is your digital footprint? Complete this worksheet independently, reflecting on your own digital footprint.
