Because Jesus Died For Me
Jesus died for all – Heb. 2:9. 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 - 14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus:that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. Jesus died for all – Heb. 2:9. We would all be lost without His death – Heb. 2:14-18; 9:22 We should not live for ourselves – Rom. 8:6; 1 Pet. 4:1-5 We should live for Christ – 1 Cor. 6:19,20 There are Four aspects of this realization that I want to focus on this morning:
Because Jesus Died For Me I Want To Learn & Stand On His Word I Want To Work For Him I Want To Be Forgiving Like Him I Want To Stand Up For Him Because Jesus Died For Me
I Want To Learn & Stand On His Word Jesus is God’s exclusive spokesman today – Heb. 1:1,2; Jn. 1:1,2 His words give life – John 6:63,68 Matt. 11:28-30; Rom. 1:16 His words are authoritative – Matt. 28:18-20; Col. 3:17 Following His words is the only way to please God – 1 Thess. 4:1,2; Matt. 7:24-27. His words will judge us on the last day – Jn. 12:48; Rom. 2:16 Are we willing to Stand & Learn His Word?
I Want To Work For Him Are we willing to work for Him? Jesus expects us to be workers – Matt. 25:34-46; Eph. 2:10 Faith without works is dead – James 2:14-24; 1:22-24 We ought to be zealous to do good works – Tit. 2:14 We need to encourage one another – Heb. 10:24,25 If we do not – we are sinners and will be cut off – James 4:17; John 15:1-8 Are we willing to work for Him?
I Want To Be Forgiving Like Him Are we willing to Forgive like Him? Example of Jesus – Luke 23:34 Because I have been forgiven – Eph. 4:32; Col. 3:13 We should always have a heart of forgiveness— Matt. 18:21-35; Acts 7:59,60; John 3:16; Col. 3:12-14 Required if we are to be forgiven – Matt. 6:14,15; Mark 11:25,26 Are we willing to Forgive like Him?
I Want To Stand Up For Him Are we willing to Stand Up for Him? In righteousness– 1 Cor. 15:58; Col. 1:23; Heb. 3:14; 1 Tim. 6:12 Against wickedness – Eph. 4:27; 5:11; 1 Pet. 5:8,9; Jam. 4:7 To defend His teaching – Rom. 1:16; Jude 1:3; Phil. 1:27; Acts 8:4; 1 Thess. 1:8 Requires courage and strength – 1 Cor. 16:13; Josh. 1:6-9 God has provided us with the means to stand – Eph. 6:10- 18 Are we willing to Stand Up for Him?
