SYMMES VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED FOR 2018-2019 Name:____________________________________________________ Phone number:____________________________________________ Email:____________________________________________________ _____ I might consider a chair or co-chair position (see back page) _____ Put me on a general email/sign-up genius list for volunteers This form can be filled out online: https://tinyurl.com/symmesvolunteer One-time events (approximately 2 hour commitment): _____Cookie Sale- provide support for this fundraiser in late September, October _____Fall family night- help man activities during this event _____Moms and Muffins- help serve muffins before school _____Health Screenings- work one or more shifts the days of screenings (RN’s needed, but all can help) _____Family Assistance- work one shift to help sort clothes for our school drive, Fall _____Book Fair – take a shift to set up, take down, or work the sale _____Cultural Heritage Night - work on a committee to plan event that allows families to share their heritage and culture _____Carnival - work one shift on the night of carnival _____Dads and Donuts- help serve donuts and juice before school _____Field Day- work one half day shift and help with the zany, fun games Year-long commitments- (approximately 1 hour, 1-2 times/month): _____Symmes Stars- take turns on Monday mornings to interview our “Students of the Week” _____Symmes Steppers- take turns on Wednesdays in fall and spring to monitor students on the walking track during lunch recess. _____Carnival Committee-Help plan the biggest event of the year (can be as involved as you have time for) _____Gardens- work with others to maintain Symmes gardens (no work in winter) _____Nature Trail Committee- meet several times a year to discuss development of nature trail, and help carry out projects related to trail. _____Staff Appreciation Committee- work on projects throughout the year to thank our staff _____Green Team- Work on committee to plan Earth day events and other special activities throughout the year. _____Art room- take turns helping with art room projects such as hanging or photographing work _____Music room- take turns helping to care for instruments and provide other support _____Media Center- take turns to help shelve books in the library _____Recess Equipment Monitor – help collecting and inventorying equipment See reverse

Chairperson Opportunities Considering chairing a committee, but you’re a little nervous about being in charge? A PTO board member will mentor you along. You are never alone. Also, if you’d like to have a partner, almost any position can be co-chaired, or find a friend to work with. ?’s Camilla Millar, camillamillar@gmail.com Carnival Committee – Chair one aspect of the carnival (our most important fundraiser of the year, March 1 _____ Carnival Co-Chairperson _____ Carnival Publicity _____ Carnival Prize Room Co-Chair _____ Carnival Bid-N-Buy Co-Chair _____ Carnival Tickets Co-Chair _____ Carnival Sponsorships Co-Chair _____ Carnival Game Co-Chair _____ Carnival Great Gatherings _____ Carnival Cake Walk _____Symmes Players Parent Rep (3rd/4th grade parent): jobs span from Dec.-April, works closely with director ____ School Supplies for Fall 2019 - work with the teachers in the early spring 2019 to determine school supply lists, price out supplies with outside company, and distribute/collect order forms in late spring. Coordinate supply box distribution in August _____Book Fair Coordinator –work with Media Specialist to arrange for and run book fair. Does not need to be present all week. Set up is most important. (November 5-9) _____Cultural Heritage Co-Chair: One more co-chair is needed for the annual celebration of different cultures, January _____ Green Team Coordinator - Work with committee to facilitate student appreciation of the environment. _____ Music Room Coordinator- work with music teacher to determine volunteer needs. Recruit/schedule volunteers when needed _____ Bridge Books Coordinator- works with Collins Educational Supply to order Bridge Books as a service for families (5-8 hour commitment), spring 2019 _____ Website Coordinator- help and upkeep with the Symmes PTO Website. Training can be given. 4th Grade Celebration - Plan and carry out a component of celebration/Graduation _____ Day _____ Evening See reverse
