Essential Question How were the city-states of Athens and Sparta different- especially in terms of the rights and responsibilities of citizens??

Essential Standard 6.C&G.1.1  Explain the origins and structures of various governmental systems.

I can explain the differences of the city states of Ancient Greece.

Study this so we can play quizzes. Most city states of Ancient Greece were monarchies. A monarchy is when a person gets power because their parents had power. A city state is a city that is also a country. Two most famous city states were Sparta and Athens. The reason why Greece was not unified is because mountains divided them. All city states were polytheistic, had slaves, and spoke the Greek language. Athens is considered the first democracy. Democracy is when people can vote.
