Animals are beneficial to man in many ways: Good sources of food Helps man with his work Allows man discover new things through experiments Gives man clothing Decomposers of dead plants and animals Keeps the soil fertile Helps in plant reproduction Keeps the balance of nature Serves as guard/companion and entertainment

Observe the pictures below. What is common about them?

Processing: What other animals can cause harm to man? How can these animals inflict harm to man in the community? Among the animals above, which do you think is the most dangerous?

Mosquitoes caused more deaths per year than any other animal. The single most harmful animal in the world is the mosquito. It is the vector for many dangerous bloodborne illnesses, including malaria and yellow fever. DID YOU KNOW THAT? Mosquitoes caused more deaths per year than any other animal.

Animal are beneficial in many ways to people Animal are beneficial in many ways to people. However, they can also be harmful or dangerous. Why do animals become harmful or dangerous?

Animals can be harmful or dangerous when protecting their kids or territory , when they are hungry, or they can be simply aggressive by nature.

Where do harmful animals live?

Rats, cats and dogs are carrier of rabies. Rabies are viruses which affect the nervous system. Rabies can cause death.

They can be transferred to man through direct contact. Parasites are animals that feed on other animals and people. They feed on the blood of other animals. They can be transferred to man through direct contact. They caused people harm by giving them an itchy feeling, skin allergy/irritation or scabies.

Harmful insects They carry germs that can lead to deadly diseases. Mosquitoes carry malaria, high-fever and dengue.

Flies, ants, and cockroaches carry germs that can cause diarrhea, diptheria and cholera.
