WHAT DOES THE ASC TEAM DO? Why get in touch with the ASC Team ? Why seek specialist advice? A child’s/young person’s primary need has been identified as social communication difficulties /autism Although sometimes there might be another explanation… Could it be something different? AND QFT / General strategies / interventions / Support Plan are already in place and have been evaluated BUT You are unsure as to what to do next …….. Attachment, speech and language, developmental delay, lack of social skills could there be another explanation?

OUR ADVICE IS MOST EFFECTIVE WHEN… THE SETTING CAN SHOW GRADUATED RESPONSE ASPECTS OF QUALITY FIRST TEACHING ARE IN PLACE GENERALISED KNOWLEDGE HAS BEEN APPLIED YOU HAVE CHECKED THE AUTISM THRESHOLD DOCUMENT TO ENSURE THAT INITIAL SUPPORT IS IN PLACE THERE IS AN INDIVIDUAL PLAN THAT ADDRESSES THE MAIN CONCERNS ABOUT THE CHILD AS THEY RELATE TO THE CHILD’S SOCIAL COMMUNICATION NEEDS THE PLAN HAS BEEN EVALUATED OTHER SPECIALISTS’ ADVICE HAS BEEN FOLLOWED AND EVALUATED
How to get in touch? AUTISMSOCCOMM@WIRRAL.GOV.UK We have a contact form This needs to be completed with parents. It looks at strengths as well as concerns. It looks specifically at the areas we think might be impacted on by poor social communication skills/autism It aims to help parents and setting to identify what they think needs to change/improve/develop.
