Sister City – Battambang, Cambodia

Sister City Association In 2002, the Cambodia Heritage Society requested the Stockton Sister City Association develop a sister city relationship with Cambodia. This past year, the Cambodia Heritage Society, Stockton Sister City Association and the Cambodia Government have been working together to build a sister city relationship. On September 13, 2004, the Board of Directors of the Stockton Sister City Association approved adding Battambang, Cambodia as the sixth sister city for Stockton, California.

Advantages of the Sister City Relationship Promote understanding and friendship between our two communities. Exchange of goodwill. Share information on economic and cultural opportunities.

Battambang, Cambodia Second largest City in Cambodia with a population of approximately 110,000. City is located by the Sangker River. City is the market center for numerous rice mills.

Next Step Once approved by the City Council, the Sister City Association of Stockton will forward the request to the Sister City International in Alexandria, Virginia. Agreement will be official once the document has been executed by the Mayor and the Governor of Battambang City, Cambodia.
