Presentation transcript:

LAMAS Working Group 7-8 December 2016 Agenda Item 3.6 Subsampling in the future LFS Frank.ESPELAGE@ec.europa.eu Eurostat

Background Currently agreed sub-sampling architecture: Q – Quarterly (main) variables B – BACKGR, yearly (+biennial) variables J – JOBDET, yearly (+biennial) variables H – Minimum set of variables for HH analyses M – Module variables Eurostat

Background Much more options and higher complexity than before Main reason: split of yearly variables into B and J Intention to implement split B/J extremely limited Eurostat and users potentially strongly affected -> Merge B and J again? Eurostat

Comments received Intended burden reduction vs. increase of complexity Variable assignment to quarterly/yearly frequency Implementation of current proposal feasible or not -> Huge majority in favour of merging B and J Eurostat

LAMAS is invited to : agree on merging the yearly blocks BACKGR and JOBDET into one common yearly block again Eurostat
