1. Food Science- the scientific study of food and its preparation. 2. Food Science helps you understand why certain instructions or ingredients in a recipe are important. For example: A. if any fat gets into egg whites, the meringue on a pie will fall and not be fluffy. B. Not putting baking soda or baking powder in your cake will cause your cake not to rise. 3. Food technologists help develop new foods and improve existing ones by relying on knowledge of food, nutrition, science and technology. A. For example: sugar free foods that taste sweet.
