Girlguiding Retention report – the story so far Girlguiding LaSER adult retention snapshot Half had an immediate response from Join Us, half waited 3 weeks to one month Half were parents wanting to join along with daughters, or had been members when they were young Half said the expectations of them and their role were made clear Induction could be improved, for example by offering a visit to another unit for experience A quarter said that a lot of ‘spin’ was put onto roles when signing up and the reality turned out to be different – more time, more paperwork etc Half were offered training, ranging from first aid to Division section training, some said training locations were too far from their area A quarter hadn’t received any thanks or recognition “Bear with the people who have never done it before, and offer them support and advice”

Think for a minute about what you have done at Stay Awhile

Share this with the person next to you

What next? Think about why you signed up to attend Stay Awhile. Most likely because you care about Girlguiding and what it gives our members. You want to see it grow so that in the future more girls and young women can become engaged with it and learn and grow together.

Action planning

Look at the action planning sheet Ensure these are printed and added to member packs on the day!

List 3 ideas Take 1 idea Make an action plan Share with the group Hand in your plan Participants will be given some time to do this, then will be asked to share with the group. Some participants might want to do this alone, others in pairs or threes or similar. People will work together to come up with an action plan, which will be collected in by the Region office, scanned and e-mailed back to participants. That way, we can keep track of what is happening. Each group then has 2-3 minutes to feedback to the wider group.
