Define Time Management In your own words – what is time management?
Time management “Time management” is planning how to divide your time between specific activities. How well do you manage your time each day? What are some benefits of time management?
Tips for managing your time
Take care of yourself Eat Exercise relax You cannot work for long periods or at high levels if your tired or hungry
Prioritize Organize tasks by order of importance Reviewing for a test that is coming up in 3 days Or Making up a small missed assignment that is two weeks old?
Balance your approach Work on portions of assignments / projects over a period off time Most papers/projects/tests are given in advance Test studying Projects Papers Avoid cramming!!!
Work in intervals Make yourself work 15 or 20 minutes straight without any break. This helps you get into a groove You may find that you work longer without knowing it!
Take breaks After a sustained work effort 5 minute / 10 minute break (set a timer!) Walk around Get a snack Check social media
Keep lists Keep track of your progress Check items off as you complete them
Reorganize your lists As you complete tasks each day, create a new list Prioritize what’s important
Make time for fun Be sure you do things you enjoy Talking to friends Texting Hanging out Playing games Reading Your brain and body need these breaks
Rest You need 7 to 9 hours of sleep a day This relaxes your brain so you can continue to work well and think clearly
