Why is it so important to prevent Summer Slide? When children don’t read over the summer, they can fall 2 years behind by 5th grade. It’s always important to support your child’s learning at home, and over the summer.

Five Finger Rule for Right-fit Books Open the book and ask your child to read a page or two. for Right-fit Books Hold up a finger for each unknown word and say.. 1-You know all but one word. This book will be pretty easy for you. 2- “L” Stands for learning. This will be a good learning book for you. 3-4 “W” is for warning. This book may frustrate you and you may not enjoy it. 5- This means STOP. Time to look for another book you can enjoy by yourself.
