Mrs. Corales and Mrs. Daigle’s Louisiana Learner Week of May 7, 2018 Please check the TMS website and our class websites for important information! (The link to our website is found via the TMS website’s Teacher Pages) Parent Signature: ____________________________ Math: We have moved on to Chap 14 on Geometry. The great thing about Geometry is that is has very few mathematical computations! We have been moving very quickly the past few weeks. If your child is having trouble keeping pace, you need to email me. Science: We are continuing Chapter 2 about Matter. We will test on Friday for lessons 1 through 3. S.S. (BOTH CLASSES): Daigle HR will continue economics. We will be working on in-class projects this week and next. Corales HR is finishing the branches of government . We are not taking any big tests, just in-class quizzes. 12 Achieve assignments are due Fri. May 11 for a Social Studies grade. This date has been changed and the number of assignments decreased due to less time in computer lab during Leap testing last week. Reading: Students have chosen a novel in class to do “Book Clubs” with for the remainder of school. They will read daily from the book in groups, record a short summary in their logs, discuss the book in groups, do fun activities and have an in-class project to do on the book when complete. We will also spend our class time in stations, reviewing cursive handwriting skills and grammar skills. Writing: We are preparing for 5th grade. Writing topics will come from Book Club novels and some will be student choice! Spelling: Spelling homework will continue but we will not have any more spelling tests. AR (Accelerated Reader) These goals/points will be tallied this Friday, May 11 for a reading grade. (To attend the library party, goals must have been met by last Fri. May 4) Important Reminders 4th grade picnic is Wednesday, May 16-permission slips were sent home last week. Field Day is Thursday, May 17 at 8:30. Volunteers are needed. Our class Spring Party is Friday, May 18 at 1:30. Please check emails/folders for info on this. 4th grade award ceremony is Monday, May 21 at 10:00. THE ACHIEVE WEBSITE WILL BE USABLE OVER THE SUMMER. A SUMMER READING LIST WAS SENT HOME TODAY FOR 5TH GRADE. Kimberly.Daigle@stpsb.org – ELA/READING, S.S. Wendi.corales@stpsb.org – Math, Science, S.S.
