TIAA-CREF Employee Giving Campaign Presentation

Employee Giving Campaign Objectives Provide an opportunity for employees to give back to the community. Reinforce TIAA-CREF corporate values, mission and brand. Provide personal satisfaction to employees by enabling them to make a difference and support causes important to them. Demonstrate TIAA-CREF’s leadership in giving. Engage employees toward a shared goal and common purpose.

Campaign Goal To raise $2 million, which represents a desired $1 million in employee contributions to match-eligible organizations plus up to a maximum $1 million TIAA-CREF matching contribution to employee gifts. RESULTS – We raised $2.6 million! Employees pledged $1.5 million and the company will match $1.1 million to match-eligible organizations Represents a 10-year high in employee contributions 35% of our employee’s participated in the campaign

Employee Giving Campaign Parameters Only time of year that TIAA-CREF provides matching contribution Dollar-for-dollar match up to $2,000 per employee to match-eligible organizations Campaign annually scheduled for October Campaign runs October 1-31 Early-Bird Campaign occurs one week prior to launch of campaign Employees “pledge” in October for contributions the following year Contributions through payroll or personal check Payroll Deduction Percentage of salary A designated dollar amount per pay period A one-time payroll deduction Deduction from bonus Personal Check

Campaign Charities Educational Institutions - any public, private K-12 and higher education institution   America’s Charities – more than 100 well-known charities like the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Reading Is Fundamental Community Health Charities – represents premiere health charities such as American Lung Association and the Lupus Foundation Global Impact – U.S.-based international charities focusing on relief such as UNICEF United Way – local nonprofit organizations serving local community needs Employees can donate to any 501C3 online, but match only applied to our four federations plus public, private K-12 and higher education institutions

Campaign Communications Employee Giving Campaign Captains for all business areas Executive Sponsors Internal and Executive Communications (TIAA-CREF Link, corporate executive email, executive voicemail, posters, intranet) Senior leadership communications

Campaign Events – Extreme Cubicle Makeover Virtual activity where employees can creatively decorate their cubicles and submit photos for a chance to win. The employee with the most votes for their creative design will receive a donation to their favorite charity! All employees are eligible to participate. A “run off” will be conducted in each business area. The contest will start at the beginning of the campaign and end the last week of the campaign. Employees across the company cast 5,579 votes to determine the winners (that’s 2,000 more votes than last year!). The winners received a $1,000 Donors Choose card to support classroom projects

Campaign Events – Tricycle Race Business areas will compete against each other for the coveted Tricycle Race trophy! The higher participation in online donations within business areas, the better their pole position! We had 58 trike teams in Charlotte, Denver and New York! The highest number of trike participants since we began event in 2005
