Client Background: Arianna I have been working with a 13 year old girl named Arianna. She has lived with her grandmother, aunt, and younger siblings since she was eight. It is a very sad situation because she has no contact with her mother or father. Arianna and her grandmother will go through stages and they will not get along and her grandmother threatens to send her away. Arianna believes that she will not remain in her grandmother’s care for more than a year. Just like any other teenager Arianna would chose to live with her friends but that is not possible in this case. However, since Arianna is happy for the most part living with her family, her second choice is to continue to live there. According to Arianna, her grandmother thinks she will end up a “drug addict” just like her mother and will always stay in trouble with the police. Arianna perceives that her grandmother has negative expectations for her future. In fact, Arianna was arrested near her home after she was in a fight and she tested positive for alcohol and marijuana. Since Arianna has gotten in trouble her grandmother has attempted to supervise her more carefully, but Arianna says her grandmother still doesn’t know where she is or what she is doing most of the time. Arianna has a very positive outlook about her future and expects she will be happy and successful. She does not want to be anything like her mother. She also expects that she will graduate from high school, go to college, and get a job. Arianna said that she wanted to be a lawyer or someone who works to get teenagers off the streets.

Pertinate Information from the Intake Form Reason for contact with client: To get to know Arianna, define her needs and problems, meet her family, and see what types of resources they need Help Arianna and her family learn to communicate better Arianna is an at risk runaway because her grandmother threatens to send her away. Her grandmother has a negative outlook on Arianna’s future. She tells her she is going to be a drug addict just like her mom. This could be affecting Arianna emotionally and Psychologically and it could continue to the rest of her life Arianna has been arrested for fighting and she tested posted for alcohol and marijuana which this could get out of hand if her grandmother does not watch her more closely like she is suppose to be Arianna has no contact with mother or father and that can cause abandonment issuse Arianna’s mom is a drug addict and stays in trouble with the law

The Issues the Client is Facing Arianna is living with family members and not with her mother or father in a stable home Arianna fears her grandmother will send her away because she threatens to all the time Arianna’s grandmother is very negative to her and she has negative expectations for her future Her grandmother tells her she is going to be a drug addict just like her mother Arianna was arrested for fighting and she tested positive for marijuana and alcohol Her grandmother is suppose to be supervising her but she still doesn’t know what she does or where she is most of the time Arianna’s behavior is rebellious, she doesn’t listen to her grandmother and she gets in trouble with the law

Services and Resources Christian counseling: This will give my client a chance to talk about her past, what is going on now, and what are goals are. Taking a mental status test will help determine where she is psychological Weekly Drug and Alcohol Classes will help Arianna deal with the issues she had with the law A mentor to help her with school The boys and girls club where she can go after school and they will help her with her homework, teach them life skills, and they will associate with influential individuals She could go to the boys and girls club after school program and she could go there during the summer where she would have supervision Volunteer at local shelters to help teens that have been in her place Possibly anger management, just depending on how she feels about her grandmother not wanting her to live there and how she feels about her mom and dad She could qualify for Medicaid, food stamps, and child support
