Is it soil or dirt? Healthy soil is made of Decomposed Rock Particles, Organic Matter from decomposing plants and animals, Air, Water, and Living Organisms Dirt has no life in it.

Compost is a controlled decomposition process to add nutrients to the soil faster. Composting speed is determined by: Carbon (Browns)/Nitrogen (Greens) ratio 25:1 (equal volume of Browns & Greens per layer in bin. Proper aeration and turning Moisture content, “like well rung out sponge” Volume, minimum size for proper heating of pile is 3 cubic feet or a cubic yard
