PBISaz.org Visit Suggested Script: Read Quote - share positive personal experiences with PBIS. Ask audience what they have heard about PBIS. Confirm correct statements and provide corrective feedback to inaccurate statements. Dr. Robert Horner, one of the founding fathers of PBIS research, states that PBIS is a multi-tiered system of support that “creates a more effective learning environment by making schools (organizations) predictable, consistent, positive and safe.” Let’s see what PBISaz is doing to get this system into the hands of more teachers, administrators, students and communities in our state.

Leadership requirements Visit PBISaz.org What is PBIS? Overview History of PBISaz Leadership requirements Suggested Script: Review these web pages before presentation and share some facts and research about PBIS. Let audience know they can find more details about PBIS, it’s history in AZ and the leadership teams needed to succeed at PBISaz.org. PBIS is not new in the US or in Arizona. According to the national technical assistance center on PBIS, it is implemented in over 20,000 schools across the US, plus extensively in Canada, Northern Europe and Australia. The research behind this evidence-based practice is extensive and growing. Read a brief overview, learn about it’s history in Arizona, and explore the leadership teams required to succeed at PBIS az dot org. And please, share this information will all your stakeholders including staff, parents, and school board members.

Decreased office discipline referrals Increased student achievement Visit PBISaz.org Measurable Outcomes Decreased office discipline referrals Increased student achievement Improved school climate & safety Suggested Script: State that PBIS is about measurable outcomes, not just effort. Show audience they can find Arizona schools that demonstrate high PBIS fidelity, integrity and measurable student outcomes at PBISaz.org Tell audience to click on PBISaz Achievement Award Winners to see recent school success data and graphs. Make a point of letting everyone know that PBIS is not just another initiative that will take a lot of effort. PBIS is about outcomes. Some of the outcomes that you can expect from a PBIS system include a measurable decrease in classroom disruptions and office referrals, an increase in student academic achievement and improved climate, culture and school safety for all. Our site should be your first step in finding schools in your region that are implementing PBIS with high fidelity, integrity and measurable student outcomes. Schools apply for the annual PBIS AZ Achievement Award and their outcomes and data are posted on our site for you to see. We encourage any school implementing PBIS to apply for recognition each January. Award criteria is posted on our site.

District Readiness Agreement School Readiness Agreement Visit PBISaz.org Getting Started District Readiness Agreement School Readiness Agreement School Outcome Criteria Service Provider Criteria Suggested Script: Tell audience that schools should complete the District and School Readiness Agreements before beginning to ensure sustainable success. Tell audience to use the Criteria documents to choose a qualified professional development trainer and coach that can deliver school outcomes. Tell the audience that Exploration, Awareness and Planning for PBIS can take 1-3 years before district have the infrastructure to support school to implement PBIS at fidelity. That’s OK. Being ready will lead to greater outcomes. Are you ready to get started? Great! Begin by downloading our Getting Started packet and completing the District and School Readiness Agreement. If you don’t have all the pieces in place yet, get a team together to begin this process. Research across the nation has repeatedly shown that districts and schools get the most out of training and coaching when they’ve completed a Readiness agreement first. Next, review the School Outcome Criteria and Service Provider Criteria documents so you are informed and prepared when choosing high quality professional development services to lead your multi-year implementation. Some districts take 1-3 years for their Exploration and Awareness building phases before getting started. That’s OK because this effort will be more likely to lead to measurable outcomes. And that is what our students, teachers, and communities deserve.
