here are a few key points to remember… To help keep you safe, here are a few key points to remember… Here are a few points to remember to help keep you safe…

When on site, always keep well away from the machines Stay alert and on your guard Remember the driver has blind spots Be aware of the directions OTP are travelling in Always obey the instructions of the Machine Controller/Banksman Make sure housekeeping is in place When on site, always keep well away from the machines. Always stay alert and on your guard. Just a single lapse in concentration could prove fatal. 3. Remember the driver has blind spots. Just because you can see the machine operator, doesn’t mean he can see you. There are blind spots for drivers and they change all the time. 4. Be aware of the directions OTP are travelling in. Don’t forget OTP machines can move forwards, move backwards and rotate 360 degrees. Always be aware of the direction the machines around you are travelling in. And remember, red lights don’t always mean they are travelling away from you. 5. Always obey the instructions of the Machine Controller/Banksman. It could save you from a nasty accident. 6. Make sure on site housekeeping is in place to reduce the chances of accidents with OTP machinery

It’s your responsibility to spot any hazards or risks for OTP in a worksite. These checks should include the following track conditions… Are you a WPP or Task briefer? If you are, it’s your responsibility to spot any hazards or risks for OTP in a worksite. These checks should include the following track conditions:

Plain track, both jointed and continuous welded rail Cant Radius curve Gradients Switches and crossings Raised check rails and guard rails • Plain track, both jointed and continuous welded rail • Cant • Radius curve • Gradients • Switches and crossings • Raised check rails and guard rails

Here are a few things that could help you and your workmates avoid a nasty accident: Are you an OTP Operator? Here are a few things that could help you and your workmates avoid a nasty accident...

Know the OTP capabilities Do your checks Take care when loading and unloading Only use plant and equipment that you are trained to use Always keep the speed limit Know the OTP capabilities and never override safety devices Do your checks Always check general condition, calibration and/or maintenance dates of a machine before you use it Take care when loading and unloading Make sure you know exactly what you’re loading and unloading and do it in a place that’s safe to do so Only use plant and equipment that you are training to use Always keep to the speed limit

The most important thing for everyone to remember is BE AWARE! Be aware of any potential dangers: derailment, runaways, collisions, overturning, speeding… Be aware of your ever-changing environment: the weather, the noise, the number people and the OTP machines onsite…
