OSSLT Get Ready!

Who? ALL Grade 10 students in Ontario MUST write the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT).

What is the OSSLT? It is a test of reading and writing skills. It is based on the curriculum up to the end of Grade NINE.

When is the OSSLT? Wednesday, March 27, 2019 March 27

What is the OSSLT? The Grade 10 Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test is a GRADUATION requirement for all students. (It’s a “High-stakes” Test)

What Happens if I am Not Successful on the OSSLT?

the OSSLC (Course) in Grade 11! Students who are NOT successful on the OSSLT will take the Ontario Secondary School Literacy COURSE (OSSLC) in Grade 11!

Graphic Text – What is it? A Graphic Text presents ideas and information with graphic features (diagrams, photographs, drawings, sketches, patterns, timetables, maps, charts, or tables). For the Graphic Reading Text you will be required to answer 6 multiple choice questions. Let’s Practice!

Open Response Demonstrate your writing skills by using your knowledge and personal experience. There is no reading selection connected to these tasks. You must write your response based on your own experiences, background knowledge and connections in relation to the question. (6 Lines of Writing)

Open Response Question 1 Do you prefer to work alone or with a group? Becomes….. I prefer to work with a group for several reasons. I find that being in a group helps me to discover new ideas. I also like to share my thoughts with others. Finally, being in a group is a great way for me to meet new people.
