In your own words.. Q. What is a pilgrimage? A pilgrimage is a journey…

Mr Jennings's diary Monday 29th January 2019 Really tired today! Stayed up late last night marking some books and watching television. I ended up watching a horror film and then I couldn’t sleep! Not a good idea… Today, at school, I have to teach 7SPa about what happened on a Pilgrimage…I hope they understand it! They have got to write a diary for homework and hand it in next week…maybe I will give them some extra help tomorrow… Can’t wait until Friday.….yippee! Fish and chips for tea and then maybe off to the cinema. Need to get an early night tonight and catch up on my beauty sleep! Used this as an example and discussed the structure.

Now write a short diary entry of your own for any day this week. Remember the key features: First person (‘I’) Past tense chronological (date) order interesting details Model : they write their own.

Writing your Pilgrimage diary: Setting off: How do you feel? Afraid? Excited? Why are you going on this journey? How will you cope? On the road: What’s the journey like? What have you seen or experienced? Who have you met? Arriving at Canterbury: What do you see as you approach? What is the cathedral like? The visit: What happens? What do you do there? Coming home: How do you feel now? What have you achieved? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3rN9NO8vFI Choose some dates from your timeline for each diary entry.

Where have you started your journey? How long will it take? What would you be wearing? Writing a pilgrimage diary What will you eat? Where will you sleep?

A Diary Of A Pilgrimage To Canterbury 3rd May 1292: Today I am setting out on a walk to Canterbury. I am really looking forward to this. I want to go on a pilgrimage because it sounds like a good place to go and stay there! I am going to dress in 7th May 1292 : I have been going for a few miles now. At night I have been sleeping in fields! 10th May 1292 : Today I met a stranger! 15th May 1292 : Almost there now 18th May 1292 ; I have arrived in __________________. The cathedral is…..
