2011 Histotechnology Professionals Day Celebration Carondelet St. Marys Hospital

Carondelet St. Marys Hospital HPD Celebration Andre O. Zamorano, a registered histotechnician at Carondelet St. Marys Hospital in Tucson Arizona, wrote a letter to the Mayor of Tucson to get him to sign a proclamation letter declaring Histology Day in Tucson as March 10, The Mayor was glad to do that for us! The faculty at Carondelet St. Marys Histology Department together created a walkthrough of our facilities to educate the people around us. Our walkthrough occurred on March 10, We created poster boards as a form of advertisement, we took photos displaying our Pathology / Histology Team in action, and we decorated our facility with various histology photos and literature, and provided refreshments to those in attendance

Many People took Lab Tour at Carondelet St. Marys Hospital! There were many in attendance and the walkthrough went well. We had outside visitors interested in histology, Senior Leadership within our hospital, fellow lab workers that wanted to know what we did, and people from various departments throughout our hospital. We also had representatives from Ventana Medical Systems and Clarient Diagnostics that provided support and information to our staff and community. NSH HPD Celebration Contest

Carondelet St. Marys Hospital in Tucson Arizona Andi Grantham, a regional representative of NSH, was highlighted in an article from our neighboring town of Green Valley Arizona. Andi also provided Carondelet St. Marys with balloons, candies, and cups to support the celebration of the 2nd Annual National Histotechnology Professionals Day.

NSH HPD Celebration Contest Although we enjoyed the attention such a celebration brings, it was the education we were able to provide to other people that brought greater joy. Following the walkthrough, there were several s thanking those that lead the walkthroughs of the level of information they gathered as a result of their attendance. All in all, Histotechnology Professionals Day at Carondelet St. Marys in Tucson Arizona was a success.
