SSUSH20 SSUSH20- The student will analyze the domestic and international impact of the Cold War on the United States.

Objectives A.  Describe the creation of the Marshall Plan, U.S. commitment to Europe, the Truman Doctrine, and the origins and implications of the containment policy. B.  Explain the impact of the new communist regime in China, the outbreak of the Korean War, and how these events contributed to the rise of Senator Joseph McCarthy. C.  Describe the Cuban Revolution, the Bay of Pigs and the Cuban missile crisis. D.  Describe the Vietnam War, the Tet offensive, and growing opposition to the war.

Description During the class period, I will introduce the Cold War to the students. I will then explain the reasons for the Cold War and what the United States did to stop the spread of communism. The students will learn about the far East and how that effects the Cold War. Lastly, I will show the students the importance of the Cold War and how it changed America and the world.

Assessment I will assess the student’s knowledge of the Cold War by having an in depth discussion about the different aspects and points in the Cold War. The Students will also have to complete an essay describing the Cold War and the major points that we went over during our discussion in class.
