Department of Defense Inspector General Who: A project team from the Department of Defense (DoD) Inspector General (IG) 7 members comprised the DoD IG project team; 2 regulators from VDEQ were also present during the audit What: Conducted a field audit with the stated objective to “evaluate DoD compliance with relevant environmental and related laws, inter-agency and municipal agreements, and policy at sites where DoD conducts or conducted open burning of excess conventional ammunition and explosives at locations in the United States and its Territories. We will also evaluate DoD oversight of contractors performing open burning at those sites.” DoD IG memorandum dated 10 August 2018 When and Where: 12 September 2018 at Radford Army Ammunition Plant Why: In response to a Congressional Request Way Ahead: DoD IG report is schedule to be published in the Spring of 2019 Department of Defense Inspector General
